Michael is a subject matter expert in human resource management and has worked on developing systems to help leadership recognize, mitigate, and better support struggling team members to reduce suicides. Michael has published numerous op-eds, national media segments, and podcasts addressing the risk of suicide in the veteran population, and on how colleagues can better identify early warning signs for a struggling person. He serves PAX Group clients through his expertise in supporting physical and personal security, leadership, and organizational wellness and individual resilience.
Today, Michael is the Vice President for Insider Threat and Suicide Prevention at ClearForce, a Virginia-based technology company. He also serves on the Intelligence & National Security Alliance, Insider Risk subcommittee, and National Security policy working group. He is the consulting chair for the Advanced Technology Academic Research Center Insider Threat working group and a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. Michael is on the board for Psych Armor, a San Diego-based nonprofit specializing in military cultural awareness and competency. He is also on the board of the Northern Nevada Veteran Alliance, which focuses on supporting veterans and their families.
Michael started his career with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department search-and-rescue team, supporting the San Francisco Bay Area, before joining the United States Marine Corps. Retiring as a Colonel after 30 years of active service, he has more than 4,000 hours of mishap-free flight time in rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. Col Hudson commanded a Helicopter Squadron and a Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of combat and contingency operations. Both commands received unit awards for excellence and safety. He has an extensive background in operations, intelligence/counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and national security strategy.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University in Aeronautics, a master’s degree from Troy State University in Management, and a master’s degree from the Naval War College in National Security and Strategic Studies, and holds Global Counter Insider Threat Program (GCITP) credentials.
